I assumed this was already a feature and I asked for a query that would show me all of the constituents in our database who had given $100,000 or more in political giving, preferably with a confidence level of 2 or higher. This would have helped my organization zero in on some of the top donors who have shown a willingness to give in high amounts. I would love to be able to sort donors by total political giving or total philanthropic giving, or both.
Hi this is the OP. I see that my idea is currently "planned" which is exciting! This will be incredibly helpful once it's implemented. I just wanted to add a bit of detail to the initial idea and how it could work.
When I open a Research List, it allows me to choose the columns that I would like displayed, and then I can sort the list by any of these columns. When that's finished, I can export the list to an Excel Sheet, which has been a really fantastic process for my organization's needs.
The problem that I do often run into though, is that right now, it gives me columns for "political gifts confirmed" or "philanthropic gifts identified" and then tells me how many gifts my constituent has made. But that doesn't really help identify anything about the constituent. My constituent made 100 gifts of $1, or 10 gifts of $100,000, and it's the second donor who I would most want to identify. What I really want to know is how much total money my constituent has given, and whether they've made large sized individual gifts.
So it would be very helpful to have a few additional columns. If there was a "total confirmed political giving" and then "total identified political giving" that would be a really great way to be able to sort data, so we could then identify which of our donors may be major philanthropists and then look into the ones who deserve further attention.
Along the same lines, if there was a "largest political gift" and "largest philanthropic gift" this would allow us to see which donors may have made a million dollar gift, so we can zero in on them and really know who our biggest contributors are.
Of course, sometimes if your donors name is John Smith, there will be a ton of gifts from "John Smith" but most of them won't be our John Smith. This would be a good place to apply filters. For instance, when I click on the "Primary State" column, it gives me the option to sort by filters. If the filter enabled me to sort by confidence level, I could narrow down that maybe my John Smith has 100 gifts totaling $45,000 at a confidence level of 2.
I believe these columns should be possible, since I know all this data is already identifiable in Research Point. If it could become part of the Research List, it would be incredibly useful.
